..and the sun shone

I think this is the nicest weather day we have had this summer and perfect for the first leg of our journey.

Our planned time of departure was at 9:00 and we did not bad, getting ready to pull out at 9:20 when Glenn realized the tail light was not working. Oh oh. A brief check that the bulb just needed replacing and can be done at the first stop and we were on our way at 9:25 - mileage - 58397.

First stop - Starbucks (sorry Christine - Glenn needed breakfast) Finally on the road 9:55. A good drive, everything going smoothly till we hit a roadblock on Hwy 27 and had to turn back and take an alternate route, adding to our time.

A lot of stop and start driving as traffic was heavy on the holiday weekend but we finally made it to Barangas on the Beach http://www.barangas.ca/ to meet Ron for lunch. What a perfect place he choose to meet us, perfect patio weather, good company, good food and cold beer and wine.

About 2:30 we were back on the way to St. Catherines. It was fun to tease the drivers on the QEW as they were bumper to bumper stopped in traffic on the highway as we took the service road, past beautiful vineyards and orchards passing them and of course laughing at them. That was until we got jammed up in Port Dalhousie. I still don't know what the hold up was but a lot of idling for the A and clutching for Glenn.

Eventually we made it to our hotel and had a rest before heading to Niagara on the Lake for dinner. A perfect convertible night as we drove past all the wineries into the very busy town. We had not decided where to eat so I told Glenn wherever he could get parked we would eat. Wouldn't you know someone was pulling out in front of the Shaw Cafe and Wine Bar http://www.shawcafe.ca/ , one of the most expensive restaurants in Niagara on the Lake. Oh well, after a 1/2 hour wait we got our table and I had a really good meal of Quiche and Salad, where Glenn's Fish and Chips were a little disappointing.

As always lots of people stopping to look at the A and ask questions, most very respectful, however, some who feel the need to sit on the running boards and lean on it to have photo's taken.

A beautiful night for a drive back to the hotel where ... I blog!

Glenn has the A shut up tight for the night as tomorrow is supposed to rain. An early start is planned to get to the border before it gets too busy. A 133 mile trip tomorrow to Geneva NY.

Goodnight :-)
