We won 3rd place at Stowe Show :-)

Well another 2 days of excitment. Since I last wrote to you, I took the free Shuttle down to Nicols Field where the car show was being held and met up with Glenn. By this time a absolutley stunning 1904 Tonneau Oldsmobile was on display next to it, beautifully restored with wonderful period accessories. We had a wonderful chat with it's owner "Bill" (imagine that) who was a very interesting man and very knowledgeable not only about his car but most others. After a lovely chat with him it was parade time. Well I've never been in a parade, but twice Glenn and I have been to Stowe and sat in the stands stands to watch the procession of these beautiful vintage and antique cars. We were number 388 - with still many behind us. WOW, I am a Leo but that does not mean I like that much attention and focus on me. The car got lots of hoots and hollars, the Canadian and American flags were a hit and lots of cheers for Canada - how nice. On the other hand also lots of comments on Glenn's cigar and hat - hmmm I need something unique - maybe I am a true Leo *laugh*
The parade was a blast, but very long and I am sure hard on Glenn and "Cecilia" as it was slow going and very hilly so lots of idling but fortunatly most of it was downhill on Stowe's mountain road. After a very brief reprive back at the hotel to freshen up it was back into town for the Street Dance.

But first - dinner, I had spotted earlier in the day a nice patio at the east end of main street - a place called Frida's. I had no idea what type of restaurant but it appealed so in we went. After an 20 minute wait at the street dance, we headed back to see if our table was ready. It wasn't so we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. We had THE BEST bartender, he was knowlegable, let me taste a few wines before describing and explained the menu to us. Again a new experience, true mexican food, not tex-mex. Finally our table was ready and they came to make Guacumole fresh at your table in authenic way, we then enjoyed taco's as I have never had them before. Who would have imagining a swordfish taco - YUMMMMMM.

After a great meal it was off to the street dance which was in full swing. The dance area was packed and the rest of the street lined with classic cars, quite a site and alot of fun. Video's to be posted when I get a chance.

After a long day back to the hotel for a good nights sleep.

The alarm went off at 6:30 as Glenn had to be at the field by 9 for judging and wanted to do some cleaning and detailing before heading off.

I lazed around for the morning and walked up to the Farmers Market, ohhh how I wish there was more space in the A, I saw several beautiful items I wanted to purchase. Oh well, at least I saved myself a few dollars :-(

Back on the shuttle and off to the field for noon. The A had already been judged and Glenn said they spent about 40 minutes on the car going over it in great detail. We wandered around for a while and thought about leaving till we were told our car was a WINNER!!! WOW - who knew. For those of you unaware for official classic car judging, you have to put your car in a category. Other than by year and make it is also "restored" or "unrestored". Our car is completely original (unrestored) except for the new paint. However, that alone disqualifies it for being in the unrestored catergory. On the other hand most restored vechicles are completly restored with new upholstery etc, so we never do well there either as the interior is definatly original with rips and tears. So no awards are ever expected.

The did not tell us what place we took, until Glenn got up on the stand and received 3rd place. Way to go Cecilia :-) A nice plaque and off to "The Malt Shop" to celebrate with the best milksake I think I have ever had.... oh yes and in case you are all wondering - it was chocolate.

A quiet night tonight, though I must admit I am a little disappointed. Tonight I was hoping to go to Mozart in the Meadow up at the Trapp Family Lodge (little Austria) to listen to the full symphony orchestra out in the meadow playing Mozart, followed by fireworks. Unfotunatly the threat of rain has moved it to the local hockey areana which defeats the purpose of enjoying the concert in the perfect atmosphere.

Ahhh well a quiet night sitting out side by the stream and just "being quiet"
